§ 6-29. Impoundment.

  • An animal can be impounded for any of the following reasons:

    (1)

    Dogs not wearing a current metal registration tag;

    (2)

    Any animal kept under conditions which could endanger the lives or health of a person or animal, such as a rabid animal;

    (3)

    Any animal that creates a nuisance as defined in this article;

    (4)

    Any dog running at large;

    (5)

    Any animal treated in a manner determined by the animal control officer and verified by a licensed veterinarian to be cruel or inhumane;

    (6)

    Any animal that has bitten a human or requires observation for a suspected case of rabies;

    (7)

    Any animal that has been abandoned within an enclosure upon posted 48-hour notice;

    (8)

    Any animal found in violation of this section.
